HEART OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AWARD RECIPIENT
CHIEF GARY HOBBS – MANSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT
In 2006, Chief Gary Hobbs created the Mansfield Police Department Christmas Project. Each year, Chief Hobbs seeks out corporate sponsors and donors to provide private funding for the project. Approximately 200 children benefit from the Christmas Project. The gifts Chief Hobbs is able to provide through the project may be the only opportunity some of the children have to receive Christmas gifts.
Additionally, each of the 150 nursing home residents in the Mansfield area receive a Christmas gift bag through the Christmas Project. Since its inception, the project has raised in excess of $50K and reached well over 1,000 children & elderly citizens. Chief Hobbs’ compassion for such vulnerable citizens and his ability to engage the support of his community for this project are sincerely appreciated.
